GoodLife is excited to offer Hot Yoga – where mind, body and fitness come together. It’s an invigorating way to increase your energy, gain strength or simply add variety to your workouts. It leaves you feeling relaxed, energized and renewed.

What is Hot Yoga?

Hot yoga is a series of yoga postures practiced in a warm and humid environment, with temperatures reaching 41°C (105°F). The heat allows your muscles to stretch deeper and more effectively with less danger of injury, while detoxifying and cleansing your body through sweat.

Classes are between 60-90 minutes in length, with postures that focus on strength, balance, endurance, improved flexibility, and detoxification.

Countless benefits of Hot Yoga

Hot Yoga works on many different levels, both physical and psychological. The deeper, lasting benefits are more evident over time. Hot Yoga participants have enjoyed results including: enhanced immune system, decrease in headaches, improved posture and core strength, weight loss and increased energy levels.

Hot Yoga Tips:

  • Hot Yoga is an excellent workout for everyone, from beginners to advanced yoga participants.
  • Drink plenty of water prior to entering the practice room. At least 1-2L throughout the day is best.
  • Avoid eating 2-3 hours prior to class to prevent nausea.
  • Please be silent in the practice room. Many people enjoy this time to meditate before class.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class time. To maintain a tranquil atmosphere, late-comers may not be permitted into the practice room.
  • Please respect those with allergies or sensitivities and avoid wearing perfume and scented products to class, as heat and humidity will intensify the scent.
  • If you ever feel nauseous, dizzy or tired during class, simply lie down on your mat and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the heat or notify your instructor and quietly leave the class.
  • Relax, breathe deeply and, most of all, have a great Hot Yoga experience!

What to wear:

  • Clothing for Hot Yoga should ideally be lightweight, breathable and have sweat-wicking, anti bacterial properties. It’s best to wear minimal clothing to allow sweat to flow freely from the body.
  • Women generally wear a sports bra or tank-top with shorts or yoga style lightweight pants.
  • Men typically wear athletic-style shorts with a t-shirt or tank top.

What to bring:

To fully enjoy your Hot Yoga experience, we recommend you bring a personal yoga mat, beach-sized towel, bottle of water, and shoes for walking between the change room and class. Plus bring a change of clothes to avoid leaving the club wearing your damp workout gear.

GoodLife Fitness is fully equipped with showers and change room facilities. Please bring a lock if you plan on bringing valuables into the club.

Note: We also offer heated classes (with lower temperatures than Hot Yoga) for those working towards Hot Yoga.
